Ali and Cassy are dancing. Not far from us but no matter where she is, I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes off of my girl. The way her body moves, her dress shimmies over her curves, her sexy bump. The way her knees drop as she dances, her smile wide and beautiful, her hair fanning over her slightly pink cheeks. She is so damn gorgeous. Her legs go on for days and days...

“So Saturday, I’ll get a car to pick you up, yeah?” Finch asks me. Only momentarily distracting me from staring at Ali’s arse in that dress.

He’s managed to get us a box at The Emirates this weekend for Arsenal versus the mighty Eagles Crystal Palace. I mean it’s never the same watching the game behind glass as sitting in the stands and chanting with the other fans but at least we get to watch and in peace too. Judging by the way our season is going too I’m pretty sure we’re going to get a thrashing from the Gunners but I don’t want to let on I know that to Finch.

“Yeah, dude, sounds fucking good to me. I hate not being able to fucking drive,” I admit.

“Well, we can go on the tube instead, but I think it might take us a while to actually fucking get to Finsbury Park.” He chuckles back at me.

“Ha-ha, yeah, I know. Just feel kind of useless, you know. Useless and fucking stupid for doing what I did.”

“Mate, at least you can see it. You know it was stupid, you know it was reckless, and you’re feeling bad for it. You can’t do a lot more.”

“Well, one judge certainly wanted me to do some jail time,” I sigh.

“Dude, seriously. Stop it. You fucked up, yeah. But look how good you’ve got it now. You and Alison, I mean, y’all keep saying you’re not together but it kind of looks like it to me. The show you just put on for the cameras outside? I mean that was pretty darn convincing, son.”

I chuckle, “Yeah? We look good together. I know we do.” Finch nods.

“You’re living together, every time I see your sorry arse these days you’re smiling, you’re laughing the way you always did. You’ve got a bloody baby on the way, man! A little girl of all things. I mean I don’t know how you’re going to do it. I feel stupidly protective over that little bean already and I’m only her kind-of uncle, how you’re going to cope with things like boyfriends in a few years’ time I just don’t know.”

“Easy. She won’t have them.” I laugh and Finch smiles back, his cool casual smile. “But you’re right, I know. I just feel it’s all going so fucking great right now. I’m not sure I even deserve it.”

“You deserve it, mate. You deserve happiness. We all do.” He smiles wistfully at me as I reach over and shake his shoulder.

“Just the one thing missing isn’t there?” I ask him.

“Tommy?” he says, and I nod.

“He’ll come round.”

“Will he?” I ask, my voice slightly desperate.

“Yeah, he will. He’s mellowed a little. You know him and Las Vegas.” Finch laughs.

“Yeah. I bet he’s mellow as fuck right now,” I laugh. Tommy has never shied away from drugs, drink, music, or loose women. He was born to be a rock star, I guess.

“He called me today.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. Drunk as fuck, but he was in there.” Finch smiles. “Sounds like he’s pretty caught up with some American chick.”

“Say what?”

“I know. Tommy fanning over some bird.”

“What, the same one?”

Finch laughs, a loud throaty laugh. “Yeah. Every night he’s been there so far apparently.”

“Fuck me, I never thought I’d see the day.”

“Me either.” Finch laughs loudly. “Maybe it’s her making him mellow, but he did say he was sorry for shouting. For swearing. He meant it.”

I nod. I know he wouldn’t be angry with Finch forever.

“He wants to meet up when he’s back. With you too.”
