“I’m here,” she called out and tried to move around Remy, but he blocked her path. It took every bit of control in her not to knee him in the balls. “You either put cuffs on me or get the hell out of my way,” she seethed. She wasn’t a violent person, but she suddenly wanted to plow her fist into his face.

“Is there a problem here?” Kenton asked and eased his big body between her and Remy, towering over both of them. “She won’t leave without answering whatever questions you have, but right now, considering what she just went through, let her at least talk to her husband.”

“Stand down, Remy,” Ted said upon his approach. Journey pushed her way through the small crowd until she reached Laz. The cops were about to cuff him.

“No!” she bellowed. “Absolutely not! If you even think about cuffing him, I’ll have the police commissioner down here so fast that your heads will spin. My husband was protecting me. He is not the aggressor! Now back the hell up!”

Laz pulled her into his arms, and tears stung Journey’s eyes. He held her so tight that she was sure he would crush her lungs. She could barely breathe.

“I thought I lost you,” Laz choked out, tears in his voice.

“I’m right here, and I’m okay,” she said in a rush, unable to keep her tears at bay.

She tried to pull out of his vise-grip hold, but he wouldn’t let go. She stopped trying when she heard him sniff.

“I love you so much,” she said, kissing the side of his neck since he was still holding her tightly. “Thank you for saving me.”

“Always, baby,” he said hoarsely. “Always.”
