CHAPTER FIVE

Jonah

I leaned down and kissed her forehead. Rayna’s eyes fluttered open, and she smiled up at me. “Hello,” she said softly.

“Hi there, little girl,” I said, returning her smile.

Her eyes twinkled a little at the sound of that and it looked to me like she held back giggles as she said, “Sorry I fell asleep… Daddy.”

“Nonsense,” I said, “you can fall asleep when you’re tired any time you like.”

She sat up and I kissed her forehead again. “Dinner will be ready in a minute.”

“Really? You made me dinner?” The disbelief in her voice is really surprising to me.

“Sure,” I said.

“Do I have time to take a shower first?” she asked. I offered her my hand and lifted her to her feet. I walked with her to my bedroom and lead her to the master bathroom. It wasn’t until we got there that I realized she’d carried the blanket with her to cover herself up. I reached for the blanket and gently pulled it away. She immediately blushed and looked a little ashamed. “We can do more of… like before… I mean, if you want.”

I tilted my head and said, “Your body is beautiful, little girl. I just wanted another look before you head into the shower.”

She blushed again and this time she didn’t appear ashamed. “You… you don’t think I’m fat.” It was more of a statement than a question.

“Only an idiot would think you’re fat, little girl,” I said.

Her blush deepened and she said, “Thank you, Daddy.”

I turned her around and gently pushed her. “Time for your shower, princess,” I said. Then, I landed a soft swat on her ass, and she giggled as she rushed to the shower. I headed into the room, folded the blanket, and set it at the foot of the bed. Then, I walked to the living room and got her clothes together. I returned to the bathroom and set her clothes on the counter. Then, on a bit of a whim, I got one of my tee shirts and a pair of my boxer shorts and put them on the counter, too. I made sure there were towels for her and headed back out.

I put dinner on the table, chicken drumsticks, mac and cheese, and green beans. I’d just set down two glasses of iced tea as she stepped out of the bedroom and I was thrilled to see she wore my shirt and my boxer shorts. She noticed the happiness in my eyes and said, “Thank you for thinking about clothes for me, Daddy.”

If I did what I wanted to do, dinner would get cold.

“Come sit down, princess,” I said. “I have dinner ready.”

She walks forward a little tentatively and then sits down. “Thank you,” she says.

“Are you afraid?” I asked as I spooned some mac and cheese onto her plate. She shook her head. “Use your words, little girl,” I commanded.

She breathed in sharply at the tone of my voice and then said, “No. I’m not afraid.”

“Then tell me what’s wrong,” I said. “I can see that you’re concerned about something.”

“Not concerned,” she replied. “I just…I’m not used to people being nice to me after…after getting what they want.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, little girl,” I said. “Kindness shouldn’t come with a price tag and you’ll never have to feel like you owe me just because I treat you with respect. That being said, I still haven’t gotten what I want from you.”

“Oh,” she said. “Well, what do you want, Daddy?”

The oven timer beeped, and I excused myself to prepare two plates with the broiled filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables. When I set her plate in front of her, she gasped and said, “Wow, Daddy! That looks delicious!”

“All for you, little girl,” I said with a smile. “Eat up.”

While we ate, I talked to her about DDlg. “So what I want from you, little girl, is a relationship. A real one.”

“A relationship?” she asked.

“Yes,” I said. “What do you know about DDlg?”
