“Looks like this room wants us to stay together a little longer, Sunshine. At leastitknows you’re my mate.”

I rounded on him. “Yeah? Well, you and this room can go fuck yourselves because I’ve already chosen my mate. Newsflash? It wasn’t you.”

Even as I spoke the words, I knew they weren’t entirely true. I wastryingto hurt him now. Just like he hurt me by saying I was ruined.

“Fuck you, Sunday.”

“Back at you, asshole. How much more obvious can I make this for you?” Grabbing my hair in my fist, I lifted it off my neck, exposing the still healing bite wound from Noah. “It’s him. Not you.”

His big body began shaking, eyes flaring a searing yellow rather than the warm hazel I was used to. The energy in the room sizzled with wild, feral magic I’d only felt when in the presence of an Alpha about to shift. Fur sprouted down his arms, and his teeth lengthened into fangs.

God, he would tear me apart if he couldn’t get control of himself. Way to go, Sunday. Poke the angry wolf.

A door appeared. Not the one leading to the hallway, but a new one. Right where my shadow man’s window should be. As I watched, it slid open, revealing a dark, misty forest.

A deep growl rumbled in Kingston’s throat, pulling my focus back to him.

Frantic eyes met mine, and he let out one terrifying word.

“Run.”
