I could barely breathe, my head trying to catch up on itself. His topaz eyes still didn’t leave mine, and I couldn’t believe that my gut had been on the money.

Warren Donovon.

My bounty.

A man who’d strolled into the bar was currently looking at me in a way that made my heart bang hard and fast against my chest. But I’d also struck gold. My uncle would be okay. I could fix this.

The other man chatted away to Grace. He had blond hair to his shoulders and looked good, with a blank tank clinging to his muscled chest. But he paled compared to the man next to him who’d still said nothing.

Goddamn it, he’s big.

And my plan involved drugging him and somehow getting him back to Idaho?

“Savannah.” Grace brought my attention back to her, tutting when the blond man sat with us. “Excuse the rude interruption. But it seems these two thugs can’t wait to have our company. Meet Donovan and Kyran.”

“D-Donovan?” I stammered, still trying to gather my wits. I needed to remain calm. The plan reeled through my mind, staggering like a newborn deer, trying to find its way.

Donovan sat down next to me, and I clocked he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. That was good, right? I could go down the seduction route, and make him comfortable with me. But the thought of doing such a thing to a man like him was like a heavy kick in the gut and twenty tequila shots as the chaser.

He put his hand out for me to shake. “Donovan Darman. I own this town.”

Confirmation that Donovan Darman was Warren Donovan. But a reminder: he owned the whole town. I shook his hand and swallowed hard. “It’s a lovely place.”

“Thank you,” he drawled, his eyes still on mine.

“I’m Kyran,” the other man said, “just in case you were wondering.”

I shook free of Donovan’s gaze and turned to face the other newcomer. “Hi. Nice to meet you. I’m Savannah C-Bellows.”I’d almost said Cayden. I’d almost used my real name. What the hell is wrong with me?

“So, what do you two want?” Grace asked, sounding pissed. Kyran threw a fry at her face, and she growled, snatching it up and pushing it into her mouth. “Don’t waste my food.” She slapped his hand when he went to grab an onion ring.

“Jeez, Grace!” Kyran retorted. “You’ve got enough food here to feed everyone in here.”

“I don’t eat meals the size of a pea-like your other girlfriends. Back off.”

He pinched one anyway, throwing it into his mouth before she could stop him.

“Do it again and I’ll punch you in the jaw.”

He laughed, getting to his feet and ushering her to do the same. “Bring the onion rings to the bar while I order some.”

“I’m good, thanks.”

Kyran shared a look with Donovan, then pointedly stared at her. “Grace …”

“Fine,” she relented, grabbing the bowl. “Will you be okay for five, Savannah?”

“Sure,” I replied.

Donovan added, “She’ll be fine with me.”

I shuddered in a way my body warmed, but I didn’t appreciate it. I didnotneed this added complication of being attracted to my mark.

Grace frowned before following Kyran to the bar.

“Are they together?” I couldn’t help but ask, the affection between Kyran and Grace evident beneath their bickering.

“No,” Donovan replied, pointing to my plate. “You going to eat all that?”
