“Fuck Sagan, Marry Tyson and ... y’know the rest.”

Her smile said otherwise, but I took the rejection in stride. “Sagan’s not even alive. You’d fuck a dead guy over me? What’s a guy gotta do to get bumped up around here?”

“Oh, I don’t know.” She pulled me closer by my shirt and looked up at me through her lashes. “Maybe get me off more than twice?”

My jaw dropped. “That’s not fair! It’s been a while for me despite what you might think, you put a damned timer on it and you ... startled me,” I whispered. “You can’t just make a guy choke you outta nowhere and expect him not to blow.”

How easily she slotted between my legs felt painfully good, her hand still fisted in my shirt. “Then don’t do it out of nowhere next time.”

Next time. Those words, the scent of her, the lust in her eyes and the feel of her thick, beautiful frame against mine all went straight to my cock, and I nodded like an idiot. “Yep. Noted. Can I kiss you here, or is that just an in-the-act kinda thing for you?”

She looked around us like she just remembered where we were and when she saw that we were actually alone in our little corner, she nodded. “One more time.”

I brought my hands up to cup her face and tilted her head back to kiss her, softly at first, just teasing that full bottom lip and making her wait for it.

But the ever-patient Mia wasn’t so patient with this. She dove right in with a tiny moan, her grip on my shirt so tight I knew it’d have a permanent wrinkle in the shape of her small hand. This kiss felt different than the one we shared not even an hour ago, but it was every bit as passionate — maybe more so given the circumstances.

I picked her up and pressed her against that corner wall — I knew my fucking huevos would hate me for it later, but I couldn’t help it. Kissing her felt like breathing underwater, like skydiving into a volcano. It didn’t matter if it would hurt me at some point. For now, I needed her to come apart for me. “Tell me when I can have you again,” I rushed out. “If you say no, I’ll carry you out of here right now and take you home anyway.”

“¡Dios mio!” she gasped. “I have to go work, baby.” Mia pulled back just as breathless as I was and tapped me to set her down. “Keep coming back, Oliver Bishop.”

Once she was safely on her feet again, I stepped back with a quick nod. “Not going anywhere anytime soon. Have a good night, Mia Camilla Perez.”

I kissed her hand then strolled out of that diner before I made an ass out of myself by begging her to go on a date with me. If she was ready to say yes, she would’ve, so I’d play my part and keep showing up until I passed whatever test she needed me to pass, if that’s what it even was.

Yep, I thought as I started my car. She’s got me hook, line, and sinker, alright.

Fucking hell.
