I’d even convinced her to put on some long banana socks by reminding her it’d be cold outside with the late hour. She looked ridiculous in them, just not as ridiculous as I did, and moving around in that damn suit was harder than I had anticipated. I ended up knocking some weird porcelain banana off the top of a display case and cracking it, which meant I had to write the guy a check for it right there and apologize about a thousand times.

Thankfully, he was cool about it and even let me keep it, but I forgot all about the damn thing when Mia started to get handsy.

“You got me drunk, Papí. Now I want you to fuck me in this costume and I feel like that’s something I shouldn’t want, but I can’t help it.”

I shouldn’t have been surprised that tequila got her going, but when she pulled me in right there in the middle of the museum, I clicked my tongue and spun her around.

“What kinda guy do you take me for, Mia Camilla Perez? I don’t put out on the first date.”

I couldn’t see her face, but I heard her flats slapping as she walked away. “Okay, Oliver. Someone else might help me out then. Hey, what’s your name?”

There was no one actually there when I turned back, but all I knew was it was time for us to go. “And we’re done,” I mumbled, scooping her and those banana socks up to carry her outside. “Fine, I’ll put out, but not in the suit. I paid a lot of money for this thing and I’m not cutting a hole in it. Do you accept the terms?”

“I accept your terms, baby.”

“Good. Then let’s see if we can break some more drywall.”
