CHAPTER ELEVEN

BLAKE

The next morning, I think about my brothers’ reaction to Lily staying at my place.

I've never had a serious girlfriend or even let a woman spend the night. I took up Noah's habit of taking one-night stands to hotels, never to my apartment. I didn't like anyone knowing my business. I didn't want my brothers snooping into my life. I still remember the time we caught Rob having sex with two women in his living room. Both me and Noah got an eye full. We hadn't even left the elevator. Rob didn't care in the least that we caught him. That's how our little brother rolls. He’s just about the opposite of Noah, who hardly ever hooked up. He was pretty much a monk. Well, he was until he met Amber. It took him a little bit to get it right. Now, he and Amber are married and expecting their first child.

I'm sure it's a shock to my brothers to see me with someone at my place. Well, maybe not to Noah. Especially when I told them she was staying with me. I wasn't hiding our relationship. That's why we need to talk to her parents. They need to know that Lily will be staying with me and moving in.

I wasn't going to let Lily distract me from going to see her parents. It needs to be done. I think the best course of action is to go to her dad's law firm and have it out with him first. Then we will meet her mom. I'm hoping to meet the sister as well. I want to have a private word with her.

I get up early to have my appointments canceled for the day. I don't mind taking a day or two off from work. It isn't my usual norm, but helping Lily is a priority right now.

I sit next to the bed and reach over to give her a kiss on her shoulder. She smiles in her sleep. She likes these little gestures from me.

"Lily, you need to get up and get dressed. We’re driving over to see your parents today."

The smile slips from her face and is replaced by a frown.

She gives me a pout, then says, "Do we have to do it today?"

She rolls over and lets the sheet drop, allowing me a good view of her lovely breasts. She is a witch, and she has put me under her spell. Any other time, I would let her sway me, but not today. I get up quickly. I'm already getting hard. Damn, that girl is good.

"No more delays. You have twenty minutes, or I will go by myself." I hurry out of my bedroom.

A peeved Lily makes an appearance with time to spare. She is dressed in black dress pants, heels, and a nice shirt. It looks like she is going to court herself. I flex an eyebrow. She notices the look I give her.

"Dad doesn't like the whole jeans and T-shirt at the office. I figure there would be less for him to grumble about if I dressed appropriately."

I didn't know her dad was such a stickler. Luckily, I’m wearing one of my many Armani suits.

"Let's go. We can be there in less than an hour."

I hit the button in the elevator for the garage. I don't drive myself around town; it's easier to have a driver, then I can work while I'm being driven to meetings. When I leave town, I do like to drive. I have a couple of cars to choose from. My brothers and I even trade cars back and forth. I picked the Lamborghini for our trip today. Been a while since I took her out. I treated myself by buying her when I made my first multi-million-dollar deal for our business.

"We’re taking this."

I smile over at her. She's excited. I hit the key fob, and the car unlocks and flashes its lights. I almost laugh at Lily's antics. She gives a little happy dance before getting in. I notice her checking out the car. I like how much she appreciates it. It is a work of art. I don’t expect her next question.

"Can I drive it sometime? I always wanted to drive a Lambo." I’m taken aback. I never expected her to want to drive it.

I hit the start button, and we pull out of the garage into traffic.

"Do you know how to drive a five speed?" I don't know a lot of women who like to drive, especially a five speed.

"Dad had a Ferrari that he let me drive. It was fun."

I have to keep my eyes on the road, but I’m impressed.

"I'll let you drive once we get out of town and the traffic is better."

Hopefully, I won't regret my decision.

Getting out of town is strenuous at best, even if there isn't a lot of traffic. Lily and I are having a good time goofing around by telling each other about our worst dates and most embarrassing moments. We are finally on the open road, and traffic is better. I pull off at a rest stop and park the car.

"Are you ready?"

She gives me a big smile, and we trade places.

I'm quite impressed when she easily pulls out into traffic. I guess I can stop digging my fingernails into the dashboard. She hasn't ground the gears once. I sit back to relax and try to enjoy the ride. It’ll take some time to get used to her driving.

I keep my eyes on the road and the other cars. I haven't looked at her once until now. She’s so happy and carefree. I didn't realize how good this is for her, to just let go and have some enjoyment. Her life has been in a complete upheaval since the wedding. I'm more than happy to let her have this moment to enjoy herself.
