My mom looks at Dad to see what she should say next. I don't think she knows how to proceed, so Dad speaks up.

"The guy didn't do everything on the up and up. They disbarred him a couple of years after we had our dealings with him. He doesn't matter; he was just the middleman. Your mother wanted a baby, so I got one for her. We decided never to tell anyone about how we got her, just in case she could be taken from us."

"Why does Violet hate me? You've always treated us the same."

I would think she would hate my parents, not me. I understand this would hurt her, but to take it out on me? I'm pretty much innocent in all of this. I wasn't even born yet.

"She hates you because you are their biological child, whereas she isn't," Blake explains to me.

What he is saying makes sense, but I need to talk to her. I need her to tell me to my face why.

Over the next several weeks, my sister's trial makes the headlines. At least it doesn’t last long. Before I know it, my sister is sentenced and in jail. I have tried several times to see her, but she's denied me access to her. My dad hired the best lawyers to help her defense. But with Ted's confession, my sister was going to jail. I want to get closure with her, but she doesn’t want to see me or my parents. The only thing I did was send her letters telling her how I felt. I don't know if she ever read them, but writing all my thoughts and feelings out helped to give me some form of closure. Thankfully, I have Blake there beside me to keep me moving forward in my life.
