Squeezing the tip of my finger, a drop of blood falls into the glass. There’s no gentle swirling of glittery liquid this time. The mixture morphs from a pasty brown into black.

“That looks familiar,” Lena groans and then gasps when the color doesn’t stay black. It keeps changing, turning blue, then green, purple, then red, orange until it finally settles on a bright sunshiny yellow.

We all stare at the glass, waiting for the color to change again. But after a full minute, it stays the vibrant yellow.

“Huh. Wasn’t really expecting that to be your color.” Ruby’s brows lift as she shakes her head.

“What does that mean?” I glare at Lena, who looks like she’s trying to interpret the color instead of looking at the damn book.

“Oh, sorry. Right.” Her finger is back to skimming the page as she searches for the matching entry. “Yellow, right? That’s what we’re going with?”

“Yes,” I sigh, regretting that there are so many of us here to watch and cause distractions.

“Yellow. Okay, so, yellow is the color of enchantment. Those with enchantment magic have power over people and objects. They can lay curses on others as well as things. They can also befuddle and confuse and can glamor their true form.”

“Whoa. You could totally be an ugly hag with hairy warts all over your face.” Ruby narrows her eyes as if she expects to see a different face than my normal one. I palm her head and mess up her hair.

“I’m not glamored now. I have no idea how the hell to do any of that.” I tell her as she fixes her hair while glaring at me.

“So you say. What if you really look like a troll?”

“He does,” Ezra shouts from the deck and I throw up my hands.

“I’m done here. Let’s go watch a movie.”
