I don’t know if it’s working. I don’t even know what everyone else is doing, and I’m starting to realize this was poorly planned.

Davis goes down right before Miri starts to scream. The sound is one of complete and total anguish. I immediately pull back my magic, but I have no fucking clue what to do. Davis is on his knees, his head in his hands and Miri is doubled over, gasping for breaths.

“Stop. Everyone stop,” Miri manages to choke out, ripping her hand free from Ezra’s as she sinks down on her knees next to Davis.

“Davis? Fuck. Davis?” Tears streak down Miri’s cheeks as she sobs, her hands cupping Davis’s cheeks as she searches his face. The rest of us are frozen in place, not sure if moving is better than staying still.

Davis grunts, his hands finding Miri’s hips and tugging her closer to him before he pulls her down into his arms. “I’m fine. I’m fine.”

“What just happened?” Ezra looks over at Lena, but she’s visibly shaken.

“I don’t know. We did something wrong, obviously.”

“Yeah, no shit,” Ruby mumbles, frowning at Miri and Davis.

“Could everyone else feel Anthony’s magic in their bond?” I ask, wanting to make sure I wasn’t the only one, and I’m relieved when everyone else nods.

“Dear old fucking Dad is going to get a foot to the face next time I see him.” Miri snarls, still wrapped in Davis’s embrace.

“How the hell do we get him out of our bonds?” Archer drags his hand through his hair, messing up the perfectly styled blond strands.

“We do more research. We’ll figure it out,” Lena says, but I hear the doubt in her voice, even if no one else can.

“Are we done here? Can we get the fuck out of this coffin?” Davis snarls as he stands, plucking Miri up with him without letting go of her.

“Yeah. I don’t think any of us want to repeat that tonight,” Archer adds.

“Happy Lughnasadh!” Ruby snarks, officially pushing everyone past their limit for the night.
