“Hell yeah, girl. You look like a slutty princess. Chase is going to flip his shit.” A half-naked Olivia smacks my ass and bounces out of the room, bustling with energy.

I laugh, turning my attention back to the mirror in front of me. I finish swiping on a thin layer of mascara and give myself a once-over.

The short dress hugs my curves in all the right places, the peekaboo back coming together across my shoulder blades and meeting again at the top of my ass. The silk shift of the dress is smooth and cool against my already warm skin.

I have to admit: I’m glowing. The creamy white lace is a sharp contrast to my deep tan and dark hair.

I feel the perfect mix of beautiful and sexy. There’s no way Chase is going to be able to keep his hands off me tonight, and after last night’s events, I have no intention of letting him.

I spend a few minutes scrolling through my phone and posting some of the photos we took earlier today. Then I take one last look in the mirror, nod in approval, and hurry down the stairs to join Olivia. I let out a loud whistle when I see her. She’s wearing a long-sleeve purple sequin top that dips low between her cleavage and a pair of skin-tight jeans that highlight her sexy curves. Every time she moves, the light bounces off her. If I thought I was glowing, then she’s on fire.

“That outfit is going to make Drake forget all about whats-her-name,” I say.

“Rachel! Her name is Rachel,” she grumbles, heading toward the fridge to grab the wine we picked up earlier in the day. “It’s too bad I can’t forget about her. Even a maybe-girlfriend means off limits.”

She’s right. Us girls have to stick together and that means not stepping into another woman’s relationship, no matter how “complicated” it may be. If a man isn’t one hundred percent single, then he isn’t yours to pursue. End of story.

After securing the strappy, heeled sandals onto my feet, I slip my phone into Olivia’s bag and head out. When we get to their front door, I send out a silent thank-you that I managed to make it across the rough gravel between the two cabins without breaking my ankles.

I take a deep breath and hold it in. Nerves are tightening my belly, sending electric shocks down to my fingertips.

Why the hell am I even nervous? It’s just dinner... with a man who made my toes curl less than twenty-four hours ago.

“You gonna knock?” Olivia asks behind me. I spin around, narrowing my eyes at her before turning back to the door. I raise my hand right as the door swings open in my face.

“Ladies!” Drake greets with enthusiasm. “Come in.” He stands to the side so I can pass by him. Once I’m through the door, he scoots in closer to Olivia.

“Hey, Ollie,” he says gently, leaning in to kiss her cheek.

I shift my wide eyes up to Olivia’s and mouth, “Ollie?”

But she looks away quickly, pretending not to notice the question there.

Drake gives us a quick once-over in appreciation. “Damn, you two look amazing! What can I get you to drink? Tequila?” He laughs when I quickly shake my head.

Olivia pulls the two bottles of wine out of her bag, meeting his look of mischief with one of her own. “I think I’ll skip the tequila this time and start with wine. We don’t need a repeat of last night.”

“Ah, I don’t know about that,” he says quietly, giving her a genuine smile and leading us over to the kitchen.

I see the back of him first, my heart instantly taking off like a rocket and threatening to jump out of my chest. When he turns around, his eyes lock on mine, and my whole body calms. Even the butterflies in my stomach quiet in awe.

As he walks around the kitchen island, his gaze stays glued to mine. It feels like both an eternity and just a matter of seconds before he stops in front of me, heat radiating off him and enveloping me in comfort. Without a word, he chucks his knuckle under my chin and places a firm kiss on my lips.

“I missed you today,” he whispers. His lips are just barely tipped up in one corner and his eyes are sparkling. Just a day into our pretend relationship, and he can already make me weak in the knees with his kiss.

I raise myself up on my tiptoes, placing my lips against his ear. “Let’s go to bed,” I whisper, only partly teasing. He turns to nip my ear, then places a gentle kiss on it afterward.

“Soon. How are you gonna keep up your energy tonight if you don’t have dinner first?”

I groan and pull away with a pout. I turn to find Drake staring at us, jaw on the floor, and an amused Olivia beside him.

“Get a fucking room, dude,” Drake sputters out.

Chase practically growls. “Well, what’s everyone waiting for then? The sooner I get my dinner, the sooner I get my dessert.”
