Noah laughed and tucked me into the car, doing up my seatbelt. As he leaned across me, his arm brushed my nipples and a rush zinged straight to that sensitive jumble of nerves. Oh, hell ya, this was turning out to be the best night ever.

At Dave and Buster’s, Noah ordered every appetizer on the menu and insisted on feeding me. Instead of landing in my mouth, I ended up wearing more of the food on my face from laughing so hard. This lighthearted version of Noah was full of humor and his ability to make eating appetizers an adventure in dating was another point on his scoreboard, something I would write about in my journal so I would never forget this night. I took a bathroom break to clean up my face and almost didn’t recognize myself when I looked in the mirror. I was happy and until this moment, hadn’t recognized I’d never seen myself happy before.

It was perplexing as I felt that my career made me happy. But examining it, my career in gaming fed my ego. I felt strong and invincible in the games, comparatively, in real life, not so much. Gaming didn’t make me happy but gave me the illusion of strength. Hmm, something to ponder, and if I found a Daddy, would I still need the illusion of strength?

I pulled myself away from the mirror when Noah leaned his head in and asked if everything was okay. More than okay. I marched out with a smile on my face, and we moved to the gaming area. “I heard Connect 4 is one of the best games here. Want to start there?”

“Whatever you want, Shelby.”

I clapped my hands excitedly, and all but dragged Noah over to that game.

Several games later, Noah surprised me when he tied my score for games won. His smug expression didn’t falter as I pulled him over to Injustice and chose Wonder Woman as my character, while he picked Batman. After our first battle, we both removed our jackets and got serious.

At the end of round two, I was dripping with sweat and ordered a beer, and so did Noah. Four sets later, we were done and back in the lounge taking a much-needed break.

“You made me work hard, Noah. Who knew you had it in you?”

Noah laughed. “Don’t take this pretty boy for granted. There are many things I’m good at. Lots for you to learn about me, babygirl.”

When he said babygirl, the goosebumps rose on my skin. My soaked panties were a reminder of the effect this man had on me. I knew I wasn’t what he was looking for, but we were so good together. Could he possibly overlook my headstrong teenybopper personality?

I really wanted him to be the one for me. Being with Baldor gave me what I needed and being with Noah gave me what I wanted. In a word, he was perfect, and I wanted to fall into his stratosphere and float there for as long as possible.

“Shelby, what’s wrong?”

“Honestly?”

He nodded his head encouragingly.

“I’m afraid.”

“Of?”

I dropped my eyes to my lap, where I fidgeted with my fingers. “Of you. This. It’s what I want, but—”

“But what?”

“I’m not what you want. And for the first time since discovering what I am, I’m really sorry I’m not someone else.”

“Shelby. Look at me.”

I pulled my eyes from my lap to his handsome face. His stern expression sent bolts of electricity to my core. That stern Daddy look was almost too much, my already drenched panties becoming uncomfortably wet.

“I don’t want you to apologize for being who you are. I don’t know if I’m your forever anything but I’m here now. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

“No, Sir.”

“I’m saying that I’m a Daddy and I’m here to keep you safe for the time being. Your place is unsafe and you’re coming home with me for a while.”

I gulped at his words. I would stay at his house and suddenly wondered what his place looked like.

“I’m not sure that is a good idea.”

“Did I ask you what you thought about it? Sometimes little girls need to stop thinking and listen to their Daddies, and this, Shelby, is one of those times.”

Suddenly too tired to fight, I accepted.

“Can we go to my place, Sir, so I can grab my electronics? I put them storage downstairs in the locker. I wouldn’t even have to go upstairs.” As I waited for his answer, I was so flustered that I thought I’d lost my mind.
