"Doesn't it? Do you think love only looks one way?"

"I thought you were all so close."

Tor shrugged. What could he say? The first time he'd spoken to Holger since Christmas was tonight on the phone. Tor had met Geir for dinner once when his brother was in the States on business. That Geir had made the detour from New York, to Boston had meant a lot, even if their talk over dinner hadn't approached anything personal.

Tor hadn't spoken to his father at all.

That could be as much his choice now, as it had been his father's in the past. Tor did not reach out to the ex-monarch and only replied to communications from him that asked a specific question.

"We're not estranged by any stretch," he assured Blythe.

"But you don't think they care if they hear from you, or not."

She was right. He didn't think his family would be really bothered if they only saw him on the odd holiday. That didn't mean he thought they didn't love him, or that he in turn did not care about them.

"We have more in common than I thought we did," she said softly.

She was comparing his relationship with his family with hers to her parents. They were very different, but if he pointed out how, he would only hurt her.

So, he said nothing.

"Only I think if you were sick, your family would be lining up to get tested to see if they could be your donors."

He agreed. "As I would for them."

"So, not quite the same."

No, not the same. "I am sorry." He really was.

"That my parents are so disconnected from me? I got over that a long time ago."

If that were true, she wouldn't be so afraid of losing Janne.

Tor stepped back into Blythe's personal space. "You're so beautiful."

"I'm not."

"Agree to disagree."

"I'm no model."

He cupped her shoulders, pulling her almost close enough to touch. "Did you want to be?"

"Did I what?" Her eyes had gone unfocused.

"Want to be a model?"

"No," she said a little breathlessly, her gaze stuck on his mouth. "I like what I do."

Travelling and sharing her experiences with others. It worked for her.

"I like what you do, too." He leaned down so his lips were just a breath from her. "May I kiss you, Blythe?"

"Yes." Her head bobbed up and down like she needed him to know she meant her affirmative.

Tor didn't wait any longer, pressing his mouth to hers at the same time he tugged her body into full contact with his.

Sexual need surged through him, the kiss going from soft and careful to passionate in a single heartbeat.
