“And she’s so dangerous that we had to leave immediately, and Jonah has to check security tapes?”
O looks up from his phone.
“She’s not dangerous. She’s just... She wasn’t supposed to be there and we’re all a little apprehensive. Jonah is mainly checking security tapes to see if she was really there, and we’re mainly going home because this just fucks up our night.”
The worried look on O’s face doesn’t soothe me at all. I can see he’s spooked.
“We’re really all good?”
Dean finally looks at me, finding my eyes as he calmly answers. “We’re all good. Really.”
I release a breath I don’t know I was holding. The car drives into Charlington at that moment. I recognize all the houses and silently watch as I look at which lights are still burning and who is already fast asleep.
“So,” Dean says as he pulls my attention back to him, “I leave to talk to Cherry for a minute and you just jump Jonah?”
Oh. My. God.
I feel myself getting red and I open my mouth to answer, but no sound comes out, leaving me with my mouth opening and closing. Close your mouth Morgan, we are not a cod I hear Mary freaking Poppins say in my head.
Dean chuckles.
“You let me do all the hard work, get you to dance, and then you pick Jonah?”
I can hear the playfulness in his voice, but I go in full on defensive mode.
“I didn’t pick Jonah, it just happened! It was just fun.”
“Damn sure looked like fun,” Gil mumbles from the driver’s seat as he turns the corner and drives into our street.
“So you’re all for fun now?” O asks.
I don’t answer him immediately. Am I all for fun now? I’m done with love for the time being, but does that equal to me being all for fun? As I don’t have the answer to those questions, I just speak my mind. Fun Morgan wouldn’t overthink things, so I just start talking.
“I guess I’m trying out the fun part. Jonah’s a good teacher in my experience so far.”
“Oh, this is definitely going to be fun,” Dean says as Gil pulls up at O’s house and parks the car. “Prepare to get schooled, fun girl.”
Did he just say that? I heard that correctly, right?
I’m apparently in for a world of fun.
