Aja already had her own idea of who the current bachelor was going to end up with. She always did. More often than not she was wrong, but she never failed to feel a little crushed when her pick was sent home. She also refused to learn her lesson.

“She thinks he’s annoyin’,” Walker said plainly. “And he can tell.”

She looked at the TV as the commercial break ended. The duo was on-screen, the music signaling that their one-on-one date was coming to a close.

“How can you tell?” She searched their faces, trying to get a read on their micro expressions the way Walker apparently had. She found nothing.

“Before the commercial, when he was tellin’ that story about breakin’ his arm on vacation, she turned her head away from the camera for a second and looked like she was completely over it. It was subtle, but I saw it. I’m pretty sure he did too. Plus, he’s spent the entire date tryin’ to impress her with no success. And all of her laughs have been fake as hell.”

Walker moved on to her right foot, immediately going to the arch, digging in hard enough to make her moan involuntarily. His eyes were sharp when they cut to her.

“Uhm, sorry.…” Her face heated.

“Don’t worry about it.” The roughness in his tone did nothing to abate her pleasure. “It’s supposed to feel good.”

Aja feared opening her mouth, saying something that would easily give away how much she wanted him—how bad of a job she was doing at dampening her desire. So, she smiled, though it was more of a grimace. More teeth than cheek.

Neither of them said anything else. She could feel him next to her though, so keenly that they might as well have been attached. Nearly an hour later, when the episode was over and Bianca was sent home, Walker still had his thumbs pressing into her soles.
