“Oh, hell yes. Of course Emma can come. The girls would be so excited. You’re welcome any time too, bring her over, let the kids play together. It will be good for her and for you. That is, if I can keep mine from beating up on her. They’re pretty wild.”
“I think Emma can hold her own. Unless you want me to bring Tate?”
“Nope, we got dogs too. And Tate doesn’t like other dogs, I already know that. But you and Emma come by. As a matter of fact, why don’t you come by tonight for dinner?”
“Okay, you’re on. Let me bring something like some venison jerky or some wild boar steaks?”
“Fine by me. We eat sometime between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Come on over anytime, and we’ll get to fixing things when you get here. Hey, man, it’ll be good to see you. And I think you need something to take your mind off Maggie for a minute.”
“That’s a tall order, Riley.”
“Well, I’m not going to kiss you or anything. And Cassie better not either.”
Brady thanked him and knew that Riley, even though they were no longer on the teams together, would always be his second. Brady also knew, if the situation were reversed, he would do the same for his friend.
That’s just the way the brotherhood worked. It would always be that way.
