“Phew, okay, I’m going to take two seconds and send off some pictures, and if you got anything to send me, do it now, guys. I’m going to uplink it to Charlie. Anything I need to know first?”

Carter was first to answer. “Nah, just like a bunch of ants, they’re getting everybody fed. I’m going to send my drone back toward the entrance of the terminal, and see if we got company coming yet. Do I have permission?”

Brady gave him a “Hell yeah.”

“Enemario, anything from the terminal side?”

“They got a bandstand created, and looks like they’ve got lights and some television crews starting to arrive. They’re going to make some kind of an announcement. At least that’s what it looks like to me.”

“Get me some pictures of it, and I’ll send it all to Charlie. Thanks, guys.”

Brady looked at his team in the warehouse foraging for uniforms, props they could use. Fredo found a blue one-piece mechanic’s suit, but it was way too big for him due to Fredo’s small stature, so he gave it to John. He decided to turn his jacket inside out and found a Taca Airlines baseball cap hanging in one of the lockers missing a door. He placed it on his head backward, grabbed a mop and a bucket on wheels, and filled it with water. Then he found some bleach and poured that on the inside too. He stuck the bleach bottle at the bottom of the bucket just in case he needed something full strength for defense.

Brady saw Fredo was going to need to bring his pack, so he went over and grabbed it from him. “I’ll make sure I’m close by if you need anything. But that’s a good disguise.”

“Yeah, I always wanted to be a janitor.”

Several of the men found bandanas and a few more hats. Someone found an airline jacket and tie. They presented it to Brady. “Here you go, Boss. You get to be the suit today, Brady,” said Riley.

“No, thanks.”

There was a laundry cart filled with towels and rags that had been freshly cleaned at one time. It made perfect camouflage for some of the equipment they wanted to bring. Armando stored his long gun there under the rags, and Brady showed Fredo he was putting his explosive pack there too. They added their medi-kit to that one and located a second cart made of canvas that Brady instructed them to bring too.

The ping on his phone told him he had a message, and he hoped it was Charlie. But it turned out to be drone footage of the front of the building showing the food distribution. Brady knew exactly where they had to go and found a rear door that appeared to only have one guard manning it.

“Fredo and Armando, I want you guys to push the cart. Fredo, you’re going to have to give someone else that bucket and mop. I want you to speak to the guards and tell them you’ve been ordered to come in and do some cleanup. They’re going to smell the bleach, and if we use two separate doors to enter, I think we’ll be able to get everybody inside. Keep your comms tucked way in your ear, and if you got something that could cover up your earpiece, please do it.”

They pushed the carts through the double doors, exiting the storage area and heading in three different directions, each with a Spanish-speaking team member. One by one, the groups were able to make it through the doorway and infiltrate the warehouse filled with scared and tired passengers.

Babies were crying, mothers were calling after children, and a guard was shouting orders with the distribution of the food items. It was as loud as a regular airport terminal, but the vibe was definitely charged with fear.

He slowly searched the faces of the crowd. He looking for a head of bright red hair. And at first glance, he couldn’t find anything close to that color. But then as he was scanning, he saw the back of a woman’s head with hair exactly like Maggie’s. It was bright Lucille Ball red and unmistakably belonged to the most important woman in his world.

As if she knew he was staring at her, Maggie turned. Brady’s heart leaped in twelve directions at once. He restrained himself from running toward her and, seeing that she was about ready to leap in his direction, slightly shook his head no.

He put his finger up to his lips to tell her to be quiet and gave her a wink. Her response was to smile and sigh, relieved with the knowledge that he had arrived to save her.

Into the comm, he gave the men the good news.

“Thank God Almighty. I found Maggie.”
