“So, what do you think?” he asked.

His rich, deep voice filled the space, and I looked at him for a moment before answering, again struck by how handsome he was. How, much to my utter disappointment, the real him, Davit, put Josh Kelley to shame.

Though I guessed it made sense.

I’d been too stupid to notice it before, but Josh, while nice, handsome, interesting, was surface.

Davit was anything but. And despite how idiotic it was, I wanted to know more about him.

Not that I would ever admit it.

“Like the rest of your front, meticulously constructed, at least on the surface,” I finally answered.

“Tell me more,” he said as he weaved in and out of traffic.

“Nice vehicle. But not too nice given your salary at James. Clean, but not too clean. Easy enough to think that you’re just the OCD tech guy.”

“And what do you think?”

“Well, given that I know there’s more than meets the eye, this is clearly a front vehicle.”

“And what is my real vehicle?” he asked.

I shifted in my seat to look at him, studying him up and down.

“Well, you’re tall, but I don’t think that would stop you,” I said.

“Stop me from what?”

“Well, you are a tech guy,” I said.

“How is that related?” he asked.

“Just follow my logic,” I said.

“Fine. So why do you say I’m a tech guy?”

“You can’t fake that shit,” I answered.

He laughed. “Okay. Go on.”

“But, you’re also a guy’s guy,” I said.

“What gives you that impression?”

I was quiet for a moment, looked out of the window, then looked back at him.

“Well, I know exactly nothing about men, as you’ve probably gathered from my dating history.”

“I don’t know very much about your dating history,” he said.

“Good. Anyway, I don’t know anything about men, but I think I know people, and you definitely drive a fast car, probably a manual transmission. Some expensive European thing that I can’t pronounce and sure as shit can’t afford,” I said.

“You the CEO’s daughter,” he countered.

“And I’m also the head of the records department and have a mortgage.”

“So, no fancy sports cars for you?”
