“You have to know I had a good reason for doing what I did.”

I shook my head when he started to speak.

“You may not believe it. But my intentions were good.”

“There’s no good reason to keep my baby from me,” he said.

It was still in his voice, anger that I could hear, and the tears that I had tried so hard to hide started to fall.

“Please don’t take my baby from me,” I said.

My words were quiet, so quiet that I thought he might not have heard them.

“What?” he whispered.

I was worried I wouldn’t be able to repeat the words, but I knew that I would do whatever it took, do anything to keep the child that I loved so much.

“I’ll do whatever you want. Be whatever you want. But please don’t take my baby from me,” I whispered.
