It seemed insane, but it was true.
I reached up, ran my fingers through his hair, and was rewarded with a smile.
And a kiss.
He broke it quickly, snaking down my body, his lips on my clothes as devastating as they would have been on my skin.

Out of pleasure, pure, intense, and only a taste of what he promised.

“It’s empty,” I said a long time later.
“Yes. I wanted you to get what you want for it,” he said.
“Well, let’s go shopping,” I responded.
His only response was an indulgent smile.

“That’s it,”I said when the door closed.
It had been a whirlwind week.
I had fully furnished the house, and Davit’s men had just brought in the last of the purchases.
“Yeah,” he responded.
“Do you like it?”
As far as I could tell, he hadn’t looked at anything, still didn’t, but when he met my eyes, he nodded and smiled. “It’s perfect.”
“But wait, there’s one more thing,” he said.
He grabbed my hand and led me to the back of the house.
“What’s this?”
“I saw you looking at it, and I thought…”
I drifted into the room and stopped in front of a crib. I’d loved it on sight, but thought it too frivolous and way too expensive, not that Davit would have cared. But I’d told myself to forget it and be more practical, though I hadn’t found one I liked.
“When didthey bring this?”
