He’s just doing it to fuck with me but I sit down anyway, because I miss her.

Parks runs her hand over her head, smoothing it down.

“Ow.” She frowns. “Why’s my head bruised?”

Julian licks away a smirk. “It’s called a headboard, Tiges.”

Her mouth makes an ‘O’ shape, her cheeks go pink and I toss my drink back in one go.

“So, wait—” Daisy’s policeman stares over at them as confused as the rest of us. “How long have you two been hooking up, then?”

Julian and Parks look at each other and back at him. Magnolia sucks on her lip demurely, considering this.

“Um, probably broaching on 74 hours now?” Parks offers.

Julian bites down on her bare shoulder.

“Non-stop.”

Daisy rolls her eyes.

And it’s then I remember that technically, I still have a girlfriend. Only remember because she stands in front of me. Smiles down as she sits on my lap and kisses me.

“Should we bounce?” I whisper to her, keen to get out of here.

She frowns, confused. “It’s not even midnight.”

“Yeah, Ballentine—” Julian smirks, staring me down. “It’s not even midnight.”

Fuck, I’d love to hit him.

Clock Christian off to the side also miserable as fuck, but it’s because he’s watching Daisy and her boyfriend and he wouldn’t bring Vanna here to her house.

Good man. Decent. Me? I’m going to move Jordan into a dark corner, try my luck getting to third and hope to fuck Magnolia Parks sees and I ruin her New Year’s the way she’s fucked up mine.
