“You know what we should talk about?” BJ points his chopsticks at me. “A date for the wedding.”

“Who’s your maid of honour?” Henry jumps in, nodding at me with his chin.

I glance over at my sister and pull an awkward face.

“I mean, she is my flesh and blood. And I love her more than all my other friends.”

“Thanks.” Henry nods.

“But then again, Tausie is a much better dresser than Bridge…”

Bridget rolls her eyes and rubs her temple.

BJ nods his chin at my sister. “You okay?”

She nods. “Just tired.”

Bridge looks over at me. “Are you getting married in England?”

I squint at Beej. Never really thought about getting married anywhere else.

“I’ve just always wanted to get married in June.”

“June?” My sister blinks. “Like, June a month from now?”

I frown a bit. “Well, no, I suppose not. I guess next June?”

“Next June?” BJ’s head pulls back. “Fuck that.”

“Why June?” Henry asks.

“I don’t know.” I shrug. “It’s just always what I imagined.”

BJ keeps shaking his head. “I’m not waiting for a year.”

“But I want a June anniversary!” I pout.

“Why?” he asks, eyebrow all cocked and annoying.

I glare over at him. “Just do.”

“I know why,” Henry says, inserting himself.

BJ waves his hand permissively.

“Because his birthday’s in February and yours is August and June is bag in the middle. Nice way to space out the gift giving.”

“Yeah—” My sister gives me a glib look. “That’s what she needs. More presents.”

“That reminds me—” I point at her. “You haven’t given me an engagement present yet.”

“Nor will I,” Bridget says, standing and rubbing her temple.

“Well, that’s not very nice.” I eye her. “I gave you a present last year to celebrate getting your tonsils taken out.”

“You did,” she concedes. “And I begged you not to.”

“And yet…” I give her a look.
