My heart sinks like a stone.

“You alright?” Jo’s frowning as he watches me.

“What?” I look up at him.

He shakes his head. “What’s going on with you?”

“Nothing.” I toss him a look like he’s the idiot. Pull off my shirt, toss it in the laundry.

“I’m fine.”

He’s not buying it. “You sure?”

I give him tight smile. “Yep—”

And then I close the bathroom door.
