Jordan’s face softens and she sighs.

“There’s just one more thing we have to tie off—”

Jordan rolls her eyes at that.

“We’re going to do it this afternoon—”

“This afternoon!” she says, exasperated, but I shake my head at her quickly.

“This afternoon, and then it’s done and she’ll be heading back to New York.”

She lifts a suspicious eyebrow. “Really?”

“Yep.” I nod, and she doesn’t notice when the fucking lorry drives through her living room and runs me over. Or is that just how it feels when I think about Parks being gone again?

Jordan’s eyes pinch at me. “And we’ll go back to you asking me to say swear words in my accent?”

“Yep.” I smile as I slip my arms around her waist and pull her in towards me, remind myself there are worse things.

She lets out a big sigh. “Fine. Can you at least tell her that her dress is last season or something?”

“Fuck no—” I snort a laugh. “I don’t have a death wish.”
