I move myself so that I am standing on the edge of the pool. Below me is a small balcony in case someone would ever fall over the side of the infinity pool. However, everyone around me is too drunk to notice, so I decide to mess with their heads a little.

As I stand on wobbly legs, I hear a few gasps from those around me.

“Micah, stop fucking around,” Gabby yells out. She’s sitting on one of the lounge chairs with Talon beside her. Neither one of them are amused by me right now.

“You could fall,” a girl shrieks, her tits bobbing on the surface of the water.

Below me, I can see the city lights of Savannah and part of me wishes that I could just get lost down there. I make a scene of acting as though I’m losing my balance and then fall backward. I can hear everyone scream as they rush through the water to get to the side of the pool. When they look down and see me standing on the balcony below, their faces relax. Nervous laughter filters down to me. This is where I thrive. I’ve got them all where I want them. They never know what I am going to do next. Not only am I untouchable to them, but I am fucking nuts, too.And that is what gets me off—what drives the highs I crave so much.

“Ok, Micah. You’ve had your fun, get back up here now,” Talon calls down from the railing next to the pool.

I should probably listen to him, but that’s not my style. Instead, I move closer to the railing along the balcony, and I watch as Talon’s eyes raise in concern.

“Micah, I’m not going to tell you again,” Talon roars out.

Gabby rushes over to see what’s going on and when she sees me hop onto the railing, I see a spark of fear ignite in her eyes. Unease grows in the pit of my stomach, but I ignore the feeling. I need to get that rush that puts me on a high that no drug can achieve.

Cars honk below me and now a huge crowd has gathered above me.

“Sorry, bro. I don’t take well to orders,” I call up to Micah.

Shaking his head, he curses, then turns and races away. I have no doubt that he is going to come down to this level and find a way to get to me. Gabby stares blankly at me; unsure of how to handle this situation. Unlike Talon, Gabby knows that the more I’m told not to do something, the more I want to push the boundaries. Her face hardens and I tense despite myself.

Everything begins to grow blurry from the alcohol I’ve consumed tonight. There’s a nagging voice in my head telling me to get down, but it sounds too much like Talon to listen.

I sit on the railing, my back to the black night sky, and only the air surrounding me.

“Micah, come on up here,” a brunette calls to me, but when I look up, her face is blurry.

Maybe I did have too much to drink.

“I’m just having some fun,” I call out.

Suddenly, Micah storms through a glass door leading out onto the balcony and I lose my grip on the railing. My body begins to fall backward and my heart stills as a rush of wind smacks me in the face. My arms flair out in front of me and for a brief moment, I wonder if I’ve gone too far. It’s hard to think when my mind is in a state of shock and my body doesn’t seem to know what to do.

A firm grip reaches out and grabs me around the wrist, pulling me forward. Falling onto the concrete balcony, my body slams hard on the surface and a throbbing pain cut through me like a knife.

A laugh escapes me as Micah kicks me in the side. He’s yelling at me, but I don’t hear a word he’s saying. All I can do is enjoy the last few seconds of my high before everything else comes crashing down on me. I may be an Elite, but I’m ruthless and nothing will ever change my wild streak.
