Micah

I’vechasedtheunobtainableall of my life.

Highs that exceeded the last.

Risks that would even terrify the bravest souls on Earth.

But Stella—she is something that I’ve chased and achieved.

The golden ticket.

The treasure that made me rich in happiness.

Watching her now, so brave as she sits in front of me, I catch myself practically ogling over her. She sees me watching her and she smiles, brightening the entire world.

“Yes, Lucas. I have it all,” she says, rolling her eyes.

It takes every ounce of me not to rip that phone right out of her hands. Though, I know that what I have planned for Lucas later will make him think twice before he ever disrespects my woman again.

Stella nods, listening and at times, closing her eyes in frustration. When she’s finally finished, she throws her phone down on the outdoor sofa and falls back into her chair.

“He’s such an asshole,” she cries out.

I instantly move to her side, almost begging her to let me take care of him. If this were any other situation, I wouldn’t care what she thought. However, Stella needs me to back off. Well, as much as I possibly can.

“What happened?” I ask, biting my lip so hard, I can taste blood in my mouth.

I want to scream and throw shit, but I don’t. I rein in my anger with the promise of shedding blood later.

Shaking her head, Stella pinches the bridge of her nose. “He added more interest to what I owe.”

Her words have me seeing red. Reaching into my pocket, I send a text for Gabby and Talon to meet me.

“What are you doing?” Stella asks me with wary eyes.

She knows and I don’t care.

Leaning down, I place a soft kiss to her forehead. “I have to go,” I tell her.

“Micah, wait!” Stella calls, grabbing my arm and halting my steps.

I spin around, seeing the worry creasing her brow. “What?” I growl out.

She winces at the snap of my tone, but she quicky recovers. “Micah, don’t go do anything stupid,” she warns.

“I won’t. I’m just going to stake out the place while you take the money to Lucas. If anything goes down, I will be there,” I tell her.

I can see in her features that she doesn’t like the idea, but she also knows there is no arguing with me now.

“Fine,” she huffs. “Just let me handle this. If Lucas does anything stupid, then you can step in,” she agrees.

A smile breaks out on my face, and I pull Stella into my arms. She thinks she has won right now, but we both know, I fucking won the moment Stella stepped into my life.
