Micah

“Wherethefuckisshe?”

Slamming my fist on the dashboard, rage takes over my body.

When Stella didn’t call me after school today, I sent Gabby to the penthouse, but it was empty.

I’ve been calling her for the last hour, and she’s not answers. This isn’t like her, and I know that something is wrong.

“Did you all get into a fight?” Talon asks me.

He sits in the passenger seat, sending a message to Ason asking for help. When any of us get a feeling like something is wrong; we share it with each other. In our world, you always have to be prepared.

“No, man. I told you, things are good between us. Something has happened.”

We drive from the hotel and casino and Gabby is following behind us. None of us have reached out to our parents yet. I need to handle this myself first. This is just another way that I can prove my worth to both the Antoni Mafia Family and to Stella.

My phone rings and I answer the call. Gabby’s voice comes in loud through my car speakers. “Micah, security at your house and the hotel both said that they haven’t seen Stella. Can you think of anywhere else she could be?” she asks.

I take a moment and wrack my brain. Her trailer comes to mind, but there is no way she would venture back to that place alone. She couldn’t...

But, Stella is stubborn.

“I think I might know where she is. We need everyone to meet me at Stella’s trailer,” I shout.

I text in our group chat her address and then race to the last place I ever thought I would see again.

The moment we drive into the trailer park, I instantly know something is wrong.

A crowd of people block the street and I nearly run them all over on my way to find Stella.

“Is that smoke?” Talon asks, as he rolls down the window.

A heavy, gray fog rolls into the car and the odor of smoke burns my nostrils. Something is on fire around here and that thought has my nerves instantly going crazy.

“Move the fuck out of the way,” I yell out my window, as I continue driving.

A girl runs from the opposite direction, her face stained with streaks of tears, and her sobs breaking through the noise around us.

“Help!” she cries, but no one pays her any attention.

Rolling to a stop, I hope out of my car and rush toward the girl. “What’s going on?” I ask.

Gabby pulls up in her red Mercedes convertible and Ason is close behind her in a large, black truck.

Talon is at my side and grabs the girl around the shoulders to help calm her down. “Hey, tell us what happened.”

“My friend...she’s in there...” The girls' cries come out in waves and my stomach drops.

I have no doubt in my mind that this is Stella’s friend, Ally. The way Stella has talked about her, I just sense it’s her.

“Who is your friend?” I ask, dreading the answer I know is about to come.

“Stella. You are Micah,” she states, knowing damn well who I am.

I don’t waste any time answering her. Instead, I take off in a wild sprint as I shove my way through the crowds to get to Stella. Just as I dreaded, the smoke that we smelled earlier, is coming from Stella’s trailer. Everyone stares at the blazing inferno, but when I scan the scene, I don’t see Stella anywhere. My hand grips my phone as I dial Stella’s number again. It’s no use though. She doesn’t respond.
