He squatted down, laid his hands on my belly, and leaned in.“Merry Christmas, baby Brown.I love you, too.”
Grant scurried over, always afraid of missing out on something, and Gareth picked him up and balanced him on his hip.“What do you think about being a big brother, little man?”
“I wanna be big brother,” he answered, his grin large and contagious.
Chloe stepped up next to me and wrapped her arms around my waist for a hug.She looked up at me with an earnest expression.“Can you please make this next one a girl?”
I burst out laughing and pulled her in tight.“I’ll see what I can do.”
Gareth moved in close and looped his arm around the both of us as best he could, completing our slowly growing circle.I’d never imagined how much Christmas would come to mean to me.It really was the time of miracles.
