Taking the rod from my hand, Alisha opened the portal. “You need to prepare yourself for what must be done.”
Growling, I spun around. “Don’t tell me what I need to do.”
“I have known you all my life, Callum. You can fool yourself, but not me. When it comes time for the killing blow, you will not be able to do it. The human means too much to you.” Alisha stepped through the portal, glancing back at me. “If you cannot strike, then I will be your blade.”
Sickness coiled in my stomach.
Alisha was right.
