“Those holes could fit a small child . . . that’s bigger than an ant,” I said back.

“Surface ant, but not a cave ant.” He turned to me, placing his hands on my shoulders. “Stay here and use your lasso to draw the darkthing away from Mab. If any of the hive starts cracking, not only could we fall into that boiling hot spring, but it’ll cause all the krubera to come out and we can’t fight all of them and the darkthing at once.”

“I’ll take care of the krubera coming out.” Alisha took out a thin tube from her pocket and placed a tiny pointed object in the front. “I’ll knock out any that come out while you two get Mab and destroy the darkthing.”

“I can handle that shadow beast,” I told them. “Let me know when you’re ready.”

Callum squeezed my hand. “I know you can.”

With that, the two dark fae slid down the rocky cavern in different directions.

Like a spider, Callum crawled and climbed down the rock, maneuvering around the glasslike structure until his dark form disappeared from sight. Stepping back from the ledge, I sat on the ground leaning against the rock. Sweat beaded my brow as my chest ached and fatigue attacked my limbs, my injuries reminding me of my limits.

I had to be careful and strategic with my magic use because once we started, it would take all my strength to finish.

A sharp whistle sounded from my right, and I sent out my magical lasso, wrapping around the abomination’s throat. Viciously, I jerked it back, pulling it off the glowing orb and dragging it directly toward me.
