Declan rushed over. “I’ll talk to the harbormaster. Will we still be staying a week?”

I glanced at Havana. “Yes.”

“Okay, I’ll see you guys at Lily’s.”

“Lily’s?” Havana asked. “Who’s Lily?”

“It’s not a who, but a place. Are you packed?”

“I’ll get my bag. I can’t wait to see the Oasis.” She grabbed her dress in her hands and hurried below deck.

“You like her.” Broxton stepped next to me with a bag over his shoulder.

“It seems I do.”

“Will you let her go?”

I frowned. “I can’t keep her captive unless she wants me to.”

Broxton rubbed his chin. “I think the human does. She smells very sweet. They smell sweet when they—”

I held up a hand. “Far enough, old friend. I’m quite aware of how the human females are.”

Havana returned, carrying a large satchel over her shoulder. “Let’s go!”

Harris and Havoc joined us as we ventured down the ramp.

Broxton took Havana’s bag.

“Thank you. I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced.” She smiled up at the saber, who was triple her size.

“Broxton,” he said in a deep voice.

“Havana.” She curtsied. “Thank you, sir.”

Harris laughed and scurried ahead of us.

I placed a hand on Havana’s back. “Are you hungry?”

“Famished,” she groaned. “Can we eat meat? A big juicy chicken.”

“Of course, I’ll have one ordered just for you.”

“I could eat a whole one. I’m sure of it.”

We walked down the docks and onto the streets. This side of the Oasis was calm, shipping warehouses and boats. It wasn’t until you headed into the main village that things livened up.

Havana commented on the bright purple and blue hydrangea shrubs that paralleled the path and how the shades of blue were unlike any she had seen before. She touched and smelled every rose bush, stopping to admire a group of bright orange parrots that chirped in the nearby trees. Rooster flew overhead, squawking when she paid too much attention to another bird.

All that joy died the moment she set eyes on the House of Lily. Fae women dressed in revealing gowns hung around the second-story balcony dripping with wisteria. The females whistled and hollered to the males meandering outside. A fae dressed in a gossamer dress with short black hair smiled at Harris who immediately yanked her up into his arms and kissed her.

“This isn’t where we’re staying,” Havana said in horror.

“It is.”

“No. Absolutely not! I can’t stay at a whorehouse.” Havana narrowed that pretty brow of hers. “Thisis where you rent a room?”

“It’s the safest place on the island.”
