“It’s you, isn’t it?”

Ginger smirks, cupping her hand to her ear.

“What was that my darling?”

“It was you! It was fucking you! You put my driver’s license near that fucking apartment!”

Ginger drops the bottles to the floor with a hollow thud. She places a single finger over her lips.

“A girl never kisses and tells. At least, not this one.”

She takes something out of her pocket and places it next to the line of gas directly connecting to the circle surrounding me. It is a box of matches. She flicks one and holds the match in front of her face.

“No more talking Emma Martin. It’s time for you to fade away into privileged silence.”

“Ginger! Ginger please don’t!Please!!”

Before I can scream any more, Ginger lets go of the lit match, so it falls to the ground. It instantly ignites flames, rapidly spreading across the floor. She flutters her fingers in the air, smiling, then disappears into the darkness.

I have to get the fuck out of here. There’s no time to have anyone saving me.

I begin tensing my wrists behind me to break the cuffs, but they are incredibly strong. If I can get my feet loose, I am not going to need to break my hands free. But the fire is rapidly spreading, and the smoke is already filling up my lungs.

I begin to cough. Everything is hot and burning inside me. My eyes water, my throat feels like it is closing up.

Before I can think about getting my feet untied, I feel lightheaded, then slowly feel myself heading for the floor- everything goes dark.
