That’s it. Logan has really done it now. I’m about to break down and tell Evelyn everything. But thankfully, we’re now at the hotel, and Logan shoves me out of the car.

“Go tell them we’re here Sean.”

Logan drives off and I’m bereft now. I wanted to escort Evelyn in. I check my pocket. Did I forget the rings? I’m relieved to find them where they are supposed to be.

I go inside and wait inside the ballroom we’ve rented. The room looks spectacular. All our arduous work has paid off. I bum a cigarette off a server and try to relax.

“Sir, there’s no smoking. You must go out to the balcony.”

“Thanks, I will.”

When I turn to go to the balcony, I see Logan and Evelyn. I drop my cigarette. Logan is now in the ballroom with Evelyn holding his arm. There they are- the two people I love most in the world. They both take my breath away.

Logan waves for me to start the music. He slowly walks inside the banquet room and the lights go off. A screen rolls down from the ceiling. The curtains open on the stage and the orchestra starts to play the Beatles “Something.”

The room lights up with golden twinkle lights and the screen starts to show the movie we had made. We hired an undercover videographer/photographer to shoot beautiful clips and pictures of Evelyn and her two top gorillas, me, and Logan.

The photographs turn out beautiful. My heart is warm looking at the beauty that is Evelyn. She is so beautiful, even tonight. She wears a shimmering peach dress, with her beautiful blond hair up in a ponytail with cascading curls.

Both Logan and I are in tuxedos, so we don’t look shabby. I go to Evelyn and Logan. The three of us watch the ending of the film with tears brimming in our eyes.

The lights turn on but in an exceptionally soft rosy color. Evelyn has tears in her eyes. Both Logan and I get on our knees.

“Evelyn Rose Blackthorn, will you be our wife?” I ask.

Logan offers his ring to Evelyn and so do I.

Evelyn just stares at us. It’s like she is out of her body for a moment. I start to panic.

“Well?” I ask.

Logan looks like he is starting to wobble. We never thought that she would turn us down. Rose petals start falling in colors of peach, white and pink.

Evelyn asks us to get up. This isn’t a good sign. It’s over.Fuck, I knew it. Why would she want to marry us?

Staying unmarried, is perfect for her future. I feel my eyes burning. Logan is in bad shape too.

“Do you really want to do this, guys? There’s no going back,” Evelyn says.

We both nod.

Logan puts his ring on her finger. Now it’s my turn. I don’t know what to do. I’m standing there with the ring. Evelyn sees how difficult this is for me. Her initial reaction scared me.

“I wasn’t hesitating, Sean.”

“I know.”

“Will you marry me?” I ask again.

“Yes,” she says shyly.

Evelyn looks so vulnerable. She’s beautiful with her light blue eyes and freckles on her nose and cheeks. Her tan skin glows. I put the ring on her finger and wait for her expression.

Evelyn glows. This is the happiest day of my life.
