One year later…

The momentI found out I was pregnant, I didn’t know how to feel. Should I be ecstatic or disappointed in myself? Working with Sean and Logan was the most exciting period of my life.

Now that I’m pregnant, I don’t know how I’m going to navigate my career. How will I take care of a baby and kick ass here at work?

At four o’clock, I get a text message to meet them at an address at the edge of town. It’s already three-thirty- why do they wait until the last minute to send me requests? I close my laptop, give directions to my assistant, and leave for the day.

A half hour later, I’m at an airplane hangar. What are these guys up to? Sean sees me first and comes running to me.

“You can’t believe what we’re going to do!”

Sean is so excited, but this makes me nervous instead of happy. Logan waves from inside the airplane hangar.

“What’s going on here?” I ask.

“We’re going skydiving!”

I feel my stomach go queasy. This is my punishment for keeping this pregnancy to myself. I haven’t had morning sickness so far, but it seems like it’s going to start any minute now. I pull my hair back, bend over and throw up.

“Hey, hey, what’s going on?” Sean asks.

I can’t stop throwing up. Sean whistles for Logan to come over. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t go skydiving while pregnant! Plus, I’m not ready to tell Logan and Sean about the baby yet.

Finally, I stop throwing up. Logan and Sean are rubbing my back.

“Are you that scared to go skydiving?”

I take out some napkins from my purse and tidy up. What am I going to do?

“I’m not scared. Let’s do this!” I shout.

Both Sean and Logan give me a funny look.

“Are you sure?” Sean says.

“I’m sure,” I whisper.

Sean and Logan exchange looks. They take my hand, and we walk towards the air hanger. I feel like I am walking to my death. My stomach won’t settle down. I can practically hear the baby screaming inside me.

“Here we are. Let’s put on our gear. The pilot is waiting for us.”

“You’ve done this before?”

“Yes, we just thought it would be a great day to bring you.”

“Oh gosh, thanks,” I manage to say.

Sean helps me put on my gear. It weighs a ton. Then Logan takes my hand, and we walk to the airplane and get in.

“I’ll go let the pilot know that we are ready,” Logan says.

I’ve got to see this through. I can’t let them know now- I want to tell them on my own terms.

Logan comes back and straps himself to a rod hanging from the plane’s roof. He helps me do the same.

“This is so exciting, isn’t it?” Sean asks.
