FUCK.

I’m holding the door with one hand and a fifth of scotch with the other. The look on James's face says more than I want to hear.

Not to mention he’s the last person I want to see.

"Your papers and your ma-"

"Blah." I wave my hand at him as I cut him off. He stomps into my house without waiting to be invited in.

"Man. You're going to cut your feet on this vase." he leads me to a chair and forces me to sit down. "Where are your people?"

"I - I gave them time off for good behavior," I laugh, slapping my knee. I begin to take another drink, and he yanks the bottle from my hand. "Hey. I was gon-"

"Yeah, you were gonna take another drink. You don't need any more drinks from the looks of you."

James gives me a once over.

"Phew. Let alone the smell of you. How long has it been since you showered?"

"I was showered with kisses by Betsy when I came back from the Phil-Phil-fuck.The Philippines." I release a hiccup and James rolls his eyes at me.

"Where can I find a broom?" he asks.

"Broom?" I try to sit up and feeling dizzy, I fall back into the chair. "Damned if I know."

I see James shaking his head with a hand on one hip. He looks at the scotch and takes a swig for himself.

"Look, don’t walk over here. Where are your slippers?"

I try to point and end up laughing because my hand won't do what I want it to. Seeing his frustration with me, I give him a salute, thinking it'll make him laugh. No dice.

Jerk. Why's he here anyways?

"Yeah, why're you here anyways?"

I’m shifting from side to side from being so drunk.

"As I said, Alexa." James is serious, but I can't help but chuckle.

I stand to my feet, wobbling a bit, and point a finger at him.

"Congratulations asshole."

"What?" he asks.

"You came here to heap some salt in my scotch," I slur as I try to stay on my feet.

James looks at me hard.

"What in the hell are you talking about?"

I know I’m getting upset, breathing heavily now. As I try to punch at the air, I fall slightly and catch myself on the arm of the chair. Standing, I point at him.

"I saw you two lovebirds when I got back."

I can't help it; a tear slips from my eye. I point at myself emphatically.
