“Now that we have that out of the way, I want to ask you guys a question,” Trent looks between me and Kelly, waiting for the right time to drop his question. His face breaks into a huge smile.

“What? What’s the question?” Kelly asks, impatiently waiting on the edge of the chair she is occupying. “C’mon. Don’t toy with us.”

My impatience with Trent is growing as well, like he’s hiding a secret from us. “Out with it, man.”

He shrugs his shoulders and says, “I want to know if it’s time for us to start sleeping in the same bed together. And whose bed should it be?”

“I think we should all be in here, in your bed,” I tell him watching Kelly’s face grow with excitement. “It’s bigger and there’s more room in the homestead than in either of our places combined.”

“Yeah,” Kelly pipes up, betraying her giddiness about the offer. “What he said.” She points to me and winks.

Damn, she is a lovely thing.

“Then my bed it shall be,” Trent smiles and leads us to his room. “Go grab yourself whatever you might need to wake up here in the morning.”

As Kelly and I take off to get ready for the evening, I feel relief settle in my bones. And knowing that we’ll all be together tonight under the same roof, heightens that feeling.

Back in Trent’s room, I lay down and fall asleep with no worry in my heart.

Just the two of them, snoozing next to me.
