His emotions were a mess.

And he was half-naked in the middle of the street, drawing more than a few looks from passers by.

"Is there anywhere private we could go?" he asked.

"No," Maia shot down instantly, her brows low over her golden eyes.

"All of us," Jaro said tentatively, darting a glance at her and swallowing at her dangerous beauty. She looked ready to strike Isak down like the saint she was, and Jaro's chest hurt so fucking badly.

I love you so much. I’ve never wanted someone as badly as I want you to be mine again—like the wanting could kill me.

He wasn’t brave enough to say that, though.

"Yeah, sure," Isak said easily, throwing his arm across Jaro's shoulder and guiding him across the road. "Behold, my glorious abode! There's no heating, but there's water, and a fully stocked wardrobe in the flat upstairs. It haspants," he added pointedly.

Jaro tried to laugh, choking down his sob. "Pants would be good."

Isak squeezed his shoulder as they crossed the street. "It's good to see you again. I tried—anyway, it's good to see you."

"You, too," Jaro agreed.

The words were too small for the force of feeling crushing his chest, but he couldn't think of anything else to say.

His brother was alive. His brother was here and—and was involved in the darkness creeping across Venhaus.

Jaro didn't know what to make of any of it, but it was too much of a coincidence. This was the saints at work again.
