“Flavor?”

“Chocolate.”

“Then, yes.I’d help, but...”Tyler points at the cat.

“You have to stay put until Perry is tired of you.”

After dishing up two bowls, I go back to the couch, and the pillow has moved. It’s on the other side of Tyler, and Perry is curled up on top.

“Have a seat and drape your legs over me.I can’t believe I’m cuddling while in a robe, but no one else has to know.”

“Fine by me.”I hand over his bowl, then snuggle into place.“After so many years of trying to be invisible, when I moved out, I had to learn to be visible again. The world is lonely when no one sees you.”

With the hand holding the bowl, he brushes a finger against my leg but stays quiet.

“Learning to ask for help is harder. But I will.”

“Good.”

Chocolate ice cream slides off his spoon onto his finger, and before he can wipe his hand on my pink robe, I lean down and lick the chocolate off.“Sorry.I didn’t want you to get it on the robe because sometimes chocolate doesn’t come out easily.”

Tyler blinks, then looks down at his hand.

I nudge him.“Are you okay?I didn’t mean to make things awkward.”

He takes the bowl out of my hand, sets them both on the table.Cupping my face, he whispers, “I’m better than okay.”

As our lips connect, I slide a hand inside his robe. His heart is pounding as hard and as fast as mine.

I’ve never felt this way before. And maybe—just maybe—he’s feeling something too.
