PLAYLIST: ? BLINDING LIGHTS - THE WEEKND ?

“I gave explicit orders!”I growl as I storm down the hall.

My men flank me at once, walking fast to keep up. We’re in the VIP section of the Dollhouse, and instead of getting my cock sucked right now, I’m dealing with issues that should’ve been resolved.

“We got new information,” Robby Greco says from my side. “Jerry’s saying he’s gonna spill on the Lovatos.”

I grunt, unimpressed. “Now that his ass is on the line. Sounds more like he needs a bullet between the eyes.”

We pivot left down the long corridor at the far back of the club. The bouncers attempt to stop us, but Robby’s on it. They fall back immediately once they recognize who we are. Jerry’s office is on the second floor. Thecazzo’sspared no expense filling the room with pricey furniture and pieces of art—money spent from my father’s wallet, mywallet.

For that he must pay.

And he will. Tonight.

I nod my head, and my biggest enforcer, Louis Civella, steps forward. He kicks in the door to Jerry’s office and we charge inside. Jerry’s sitting behind his desk on the phone, his legs propped up like a fucking king.

In my club. He’s as good as dead.

When the door blows open, he jerks in his chair. He’s halfway into cussing my guys out before he sees me and his phone drops from his hand. Then it’s a different story. Words elude him as he stammers like a dum-dum. Unfortunately for him, I have no patience for niceties.

“You’ve been having quite the year.” I move closer, my demeanor as calm as a surgeon with a scalpel. But Jerry Bilson shouldn’t take it as a good sign.

It’s anything but a good thing that I’m calm, composed. As a boy growing up in New York City, taken under my father’s and uncle’s wings, I’ve been taught from an early age the importance of a clear head. Foolish men let emotion drive them. It clouds the brain, makes smart decisions impossible.

In a world like this, in a business and operation like this, living the life I do, there’s no bigger necessity than being smart. A smart man is one still breathing with an empire at his command.

An empire that’ll belong to me someday soon. All I have to do is prove I’m the rightful heir to my father Giuliano Sorrentino’s throne. I deserve the crown more than Giancarlo, my twin brother. My purpose in Las Vegas is to do just that—prove myself as prince of the Sorrentino family, and show I have what it takes to become king.

But first I must return our family to past glory days in the west. I must conquer Vegas.

“Listen, Gio,” Jerry says with a nervous laugh. “I don’t know what you’ve heard, but—”

“Quiet!” I snap, walking around his large executive-sized desk. Louis and another guy, C.J., tail me, looming behind as reminders this is no friendly visit.

Jerry gulps but says nothing else.

I pick up his iPhone and bring it to my ear. “Hello, who am I speaking to?”

An uncertain female voice answers. She sounds like another bimbo he’s picked up on the Strip. “Where’s Jer? Who’re you?”

“Jer’s unavailable,” I say. My cold eyes land on the sweating, shaking manager. “I suggest you find a new sugar daddy to fuck.”

Before she can protest, I drop the phone on the ground. Louis smashes it with his boot. Jerry lets out a cry of indignation, but promptly shuts up when I move closer. I hover over his chair, placing my hands on either armrest. Our gazes are locked on each other.

I’ve got such a close-up look at this ugly motherfucker I can see every pimple, every greasy line on his face. Even smell his sour whiskey breath.

“You’ve been disloyal, Jerry.”

He shakes his head. “Gio, I’d never betray…not you…I haven’t—”

“Quiet!” I stand up straighter, surveying him with an unblinking stare. “Don’t lie to me when we’ve seen the paper trail. We know who you’ve been conducting business with. A year it’s gone on.”

“You’re misunderstanding! I’ve been gathering intel. A…a sleeper agent for you guys.”

“Oh, really? How thoughtful of you. What did you learn during your hours spying on the Lovatos for us?”
