Having Sabrina and Bones here brings some sense of normalcy to our home and settles me just a bit. Doing routine things like preparing breakfast also eases some of the anxiety.

“I’m surprised Serena wasn’t already cooking breakfast,” Sabrina says.

“I called Serena and told her not to worry about cooking breakfast and that she could take the morning off. She seemed a bit distracted, though.”

“Wonder what that’s about,” Sabrina says.

“I don’t know.”

“Does she know that you know?”

“No. As far as I can tell, she doesn’t even know that Ales knows. I just don’t get it. How can you knowingly involve yourself with that situation?”

Sabrina shakes her head. “She is married.”

My eyes almost bug out of my head. “What?” I ask, stopping my vegetable chopping.

Sabrina shakes her head again. “Old guy, but she’s married.”

“Who, Mommy?” Bianca asks.

That is all the reminder that I need to quell my nosiness and gossiping behavior.

“Nobody, baby.”

Sabrina gives me a knowing glance, but we return to work. My mind shifts from my brother-in-law’s cheating behavior to wondering where my husband is and what he’s up to.
