“Now look at you two, bruised and fighting over me. I like Aiden, and having sex with him was my choice. If either of you don’t like the sound of it, I will leave for university tomorrow and stay in the dorms.”

Hayden clenched his hands, his anger reeling off of him. I could see the conflicting emotions in his eyes, the tick of his jaw.

“I like her, Hayden,” I said, knowing that I might lose my close friend. “It matters to me that you believe me because you know I can never lie to you.”

Zara stood up and gently held his fist, entwining his hand with her. He wiped the little blood from his split lip. “Is that why you had sex with her?”

“It was a mutual decision.”

Glaring at me, he glanced at his sister, who was silent. “Do you like him, Ivy? The way you will reply to my question will affect my friendship with him.”

“Hayden, it doesn’t have to—” she protested.

“No. If you give him the power to break your heart, I will end things with him.”

“Quit being dramatic,” I sighed, “Answer him, Petal. You know the answer since we met.”

Hayden’s eyes widened, looking between the two of us, his face scrunching. “I might barf.”

“There, there,” Zara muttered, rubbing his back.

Ivy’s face flamed. “Nothing happened between us like that until that day in the office.”

“I don’t want to know,” her brother complained.

Ivy peered at me, her blue eyes soft. “Yes, I like Aiden.”

I smiled at her, controlling the urge to kiss her, praise her for accepting the truth in front of me and her brother.

“Gross,” I faced Hayden, shaking his head at us in disgust. “You both are gross. Already doing all those weird eyes.”

Crossing my arms, I said, “Should I tell her what gross stuff I have witnessed being your friend?”

Zara raised her hand. “I want to know.”

Hayden shot her a glare and looked at me accusingly, “You mean the stuff which you later joined—”

“Okay,” Ivy piqued. “I am going to bed. Nice talk. Come on, Zara.”

“Ivy,” Hayden called out and hugged her. “I know you like him and he is my friend, but I am here whenever you need to talk. About anything to me.”

“I am here for you too, Hayden,” she replied, hugging him back. Zara joined in to the hug and it looked so sweet, I got FOMO.

“Can I join in the hug?” I asked.

“Yes!”

“Absolutely not.”

Hayden glared at me when I joined in the hug.
