Instead of replying to him, I text my girls.

Me: Should I accept Bentley’s offer of dinner after not hearing from him for a week?

Ella: Do you want to get laid again?

Piper: Yes. Your grumpiness needs to cease.

Me: Ha! I am not grumpy. I’m all sunshine and you know it. And yes, Ella. Getting laid is never a bad thing. Duh.

Piper: Maybe, but there’s an eclipse over you and for once I’m looking forward to you telling us about all the orgasms you get to have.

Ella: Maybe we need to find Piper a businessman, Kenz? So she can talk about her own orgasms…

Piper: I’m going back to my book before you two ruin my mood.

Me: Oh, Pipe. Don’t get your puss all chapped. You know we love you.

Piper: GOODBYE

Ella: She’s going to unfriend us. Go on the date and tell her about the orgasms later to make up for your crude comment.

I bite my lip. Maybe they’re right. Or maybe I just need to stop overthinking anything to do with Bentley. His hot-and-cold personality may be driving me nuts, but if I consider him the booty call of a lifetime, things could be less complicated.

With my phone still in hand, I pull up Bentley’s text and tell him yes.

Fucker: I’ll pick you up at seven.

My eyes glance at the clock. I have four hours to go and spend the rest of my time at work sorting through my emails.

That’s when I spot one from Bentley sent just a minute before he texted me. I quickly open it and there’s nothing but business names, contact information, and dollar amounts.

Holy shit, he’s raised nearly forty-thousand-dollars in the last few days for the shelter. No wonder I haven’t heard from him.

Guilt trickles in along with a bit of stupidity.

Bentley isn’t my boyfriend. So what if we’ve fucked a couple times? He’s made no promises, other than not kicking me out again.

Yep. He’s a booty call and nothing more. I need to keep that fact at the forefront of my thoughts when we have dinner tonight, and even more so when I let him take me home.
