Ella and Owen join the others while I wait for my sister. She half jogs up to the door and throws her arms around me with a massive smile on her face.

“What has you so happy?” I ask.

She glances behind me and whispers, “Um, hello! I’m meeting your girlfriend. I’ve never done that before, besides Selene. But she doesn’t count, because I knew her first. This is a day to be celebrated. I even brought wine.”

My sister swivels her massive purse around, and I see three corks peeking out. “Take it easy and don’t embarrass me, Celia.”

She pats my chest. “Of course not. I’m sure you do enough of that on your own. Now where is she?”

Celia pushes past me and locks eyes on Kenzie. Slow smiles build on both of their faces, and I know I’m in trouble. Kenzie steps away from her friends and heads to meet Celia whose arms are open.

They embrace tightly and sway back and forth. “I’m so glad to finally meet you,” Celia says excitedly.

“Same. Now that we’ve made it happen, we’ll have to make it a regular occurrence,” Kenzie offers, and I barely manage to stifle my groan.

I look at Owen, and he shrugs as if to say,You’re fucked, dude. Just accept it.

Though, deep down, I’m not fucked at all. I know that even if these women end up driving me crazy by getting together however often they want, I’ll love every moment of it.

This is what I didn’t have growing up: friends and family that actually gave a shit about each other and not just what they could gain from socializing together.

Kenzie lets go of my sister and steps to my side. “Do you guys mind if we do dinner first? Then, if anyone wants to snoop around the big mansion, I can take them on a tour.” She winks at me. “I’ve done it enough to feel like an expert.”

I wrap an arm around her. “Of course, you have.”

Celia claps her hands, then gasps. “Oh, and I brought dessert. I hope that was okay.”

Kenzie leans closer to her, face dead serious. “Please tell me you brought the dick cookies I’ve been hearing about.”

“There’s no better after-dinner treat.” Celia grins widely.

“I knew I was going to love your sister.” Kenzie gives me a quick kiss, then goes back to Celia. “Come meet my friends.”

Owen circles wide around them and joins me. “I’m just glad I’m not on my own in this anymore.”

“You could have warned me,” I say jokingly.

He holds his hands up innocently. “You got yourself into this all on your own. I made a vow not to let any of Ella’s friends date my co-workers, but maybe this won’t be so bad.”

I nod. “Yeah, maybe not.”
