“I could do with that. Can I have some advice?”

“Sure. Free for family.”

“I’m not family yet.”

“Okay, we’ll wait five more days.” His lips twitched, despite his mood.

As they walked out onto the pavement she halted abruptly and turned her face up to the sun. “Just feel that Vitamin D fix.”

When he clicked the remote, her gaze flew to the Porsche, mouth agape. “OMG, is that yours?”

“It’s my father’s,” he explained, trying not to sound like a smug prick. “I drive it when I’m in Perth.”

“Hooley dooley, Felicity Green has arrived in a land of endless sunshine and Porsches.” She gave a squeal of glee before the breeze took her hat for a joyride. “Oh, my giddy aunt!” And off she darted after it.

He watched her, a garish splash of colour in her turquoise dress with its wide orange belt and all that bright hair around her shoulders. She was slender but slightly clumsy, and knock-kneed like a young colt. With a dive, she grabbed the hat, slapped it back on her head and returned with a grin pinned on her face. His lips tilted and he realised he was grinning back, actuallygrinning, when he felt a tap on his shoulder.Christ, what now?

“Is this your car?”

Small eyes surveyed him triumphantly above puffy cheeks.

“Yes.”

A ticket waved in front of his face.

“You’ve overstayed in drop-off and pick-up. That’s a $50 dollar fine.”

Felicity snuggledinto the plush leather seat of the Porsche and tried to ignore the low-level burn in her thigh. Dashing after her hat hadn’t helped, and neither had trying not to limp as she walked sedately back.

Because you didn’t limp in front of guys like Oliver Blake.

Out the corner of her eye she could see his hands on the steering wheel, long tanned fingers with neatly manicured nails, the sleeves of his crisp white shirt casually rolled up to display sculpted forearms with just the right dusting of dark hair. Arm porn, Evie would call it, because Evie had an eye for these things, being a sculptor. Felicity let her gaze sneak higher, to his tanned neck. The back of his wavy black hair just touched his collar, styled to look deftly casual.

There was no denying it, he was insanely good-looking. The kind of guy you saw on monochrome ads for Cartier watches, and Armani suits. With his exotic almost-black eyes and high cheekbones, and that mouth… you’d have to describe that level of sensuality as sinful. Not that she’d ever been swayed by a guy’s looks. She went for personality, someone who could make her laugh.

And frankly, he did seem ratheruptight. He’d given the journalist short shift. And as for the parking ticket, she’d noticed a muscle jump next to his ear before he crumpled it and stuck it in his pocket. He might be eye candy, but you could bet he only wrote with a Montblanc fountain pen and colour-coded his socks. A giggle bubbled up her throat at that thought, and she slammed her mouth shut to contain it.

Thankfully Oliver’s next question distracted her. “How was the flight?”

“A lovely mix of crying babies and re-runs ofSeinfeld, interspersed with the excitement of discovering what treats were in my plastic food tray. You know how it is.”Derrrr Felicity, he probably always travels business class.

“I’m lucky enough to travel business most of the time,” he said, navigating the car out of the parking lot.

“Well, it was worth it, because I’m finally here,” she managed, eyes watering from trying not to let the giggle spurt out again. Clearly a subject change was in order. “There were so many beautiful photos of Western Australia inside the terminal.”

“Yes, we’re probably Australia’s best kept secret here,” Oliver replied smoothly. “When you grow up somewhere you tend to take it all for granted. It was only when I left that I started to appreciate it.”

“Where do you live now?”

“Sydney mostly.” He paused. “But I’ve been in Perth for the last few months.”

“Oh, really. Business? Pleasure?” It was hard to remember all the deets on Alice’s and Aaron’s friends and family. That would change pretty soon, when she met everyone in person.

“A bit of both.”

“It must be lovely to be here for all the excitement.”
