“He’s a giant Chinese Tibetan mastiff puppy,” she informed him.

“A puppy,” Ere deadpanned, staring unblinkingly at Chewie.

“Well yes. You can see that he’s tiny.”

“Tiny,” came the weak echo.

She cupped Chewie by his furry cheeks and squeezed them lovingly. Since he was almost the same height sitting down as she was standing up, this was easy and thoroughly tempting to do.

“Who’s a good little baby,” she cooed as he panted. “Mommy’s pwetty doggie.”

“And…it’s a he?” Ere ventured with a question at the end of his statement.

“Of course,” she sniffed, slightly affronted that he couldn’t tell.

Chewie was an impressive specimen of maleness. The size of his chest and paws showed it. When he grew to full form, he would outweigh and tower over her at the top of his head.

“Then why are you…ah…putting bows in his hair?” Ere asked with wide eyes, rapidly blinking in confusion.

“What’s wrong with bows?” she frowned, putting her hands on hips.

“Well—”

“We don’t have time for this,” Cloud interjected once more.

“I’m not leaving until I’m done with Chewie’s grooming,” Divina dug in her heels.

Then, she grinned wide and looped an arm around Cloud’s. Something in her expression made him wince and brace himself.

“It would go so much faster if you helped me!”

And that was how three grown men gathered around a gigantic fluff ball of a dog braiding bows into the thick mane surrounding Chewie’s head.

Divina was beyond delighted! She adored company.

As they worked, she chattered happily about her other creatures, while meticulously making sure that the men alternated colored bows in the braids.

Divina liked symmetry. Even chaotic asymmetry had a sort of logic that only she understood. The amalgamation of different colors, patterns, shapes and sizes made everything unique and uniquely lovely.

She enjoyed it all so much that she had no respect for time. Every moment was precious, and she wanted to make them infinite. Besides, time didn’t matter in the Celestial realm.

Though that didn’t stop Cloud from trying to rush her along, his nimble long fingers braiding faster than all of them combined.

“There,” he finally huffed. “Done. Now can we depart?”

“But you haven’t met my turtle yet,” Divina pouted, extending her quivering lower lip.

“That one?” Ere asked, looking at the slow-moving boulder supported by four legs.

“Oh no,” Divina squinted with recognition. “That’s my giant tortoise, Albert. Tortoises are not the same as turtles, you know. Tortoises only live on land.”

“Do you have nothing that isn’t giant?” Ere said weakly, tracking Albert’s painstaking progress across the grounds.

Divina took a moment to contemplate the question.

“I have many big babies, this is true. So much more to love and squeeze! The bigger the better!”

She stared with starry eyes at Sorin and batted her lashes.
