Andrea went on to explain that they would be on the biggest radio station in the UK next week and on one of the most listened to shows. Then the band were cheering and shouting and Andrea was laughing along with them.

She felt their elation and was thrilled to be a little part of it, even if it was just a small sliver of it. The idiots on the other end of the phone started to singOle Ole, like they were at a football game and Andrea rolled her eyes.

“Andi? You still there?”

Andrea drowned out the din going on as the phone went off speaker, “Ya, I am.”

Suddenly, there was a snick of a door and a gaping silence as she waited to hear Declan speak and when he did, it felt like being punched. “You’ll be there next week, right?”

Cindy had said she wanted to see Andrea and yet, she hoped to avoid a face-to-face where Declan would open his mouth and his beautiful voice would make her forget all that had happened between them.

But she also knew Declan would dig his heels in and this was too big of a deal to watch fall apart because she was afraid to see him again. This was the dream they had whispered about, nights sat under the stars that were easier than painful conversations over the phone.

She would go to the radio show and she would see if she could survive the onslaught and that would make the decision for her there and then. She should stay or should she take JJ up on his offer.

One way or another, next week would decide her future.

“I’ll be there, Declan. I’ll be there.”
