“I feel the same towards you.” Lucy’s pulse was racing.

“Good.” Silas looked down at their clasped hands and seemed to become lost in thought. He brought her hand to his lips, kissing it. Lucy felt the kiss tingling against her skin even after he had let go of her hand.

Aunt Joan returned not long after, bustling in with more tea. Lucy and Silas’s gazes met, the weight of their conversation stretching between them.

Later, she would go back through the conversation, when she was alone. To think that he had been falling in love with her since that moment in the library!
