SIENA 12

I can’t believe it has been a week since Bion fixed my back. I only get a twinge now and again, but otherwise I’m moving around fine. Eirik has been amazing since the procedure. I never thought that I would get on as well as I do with him.

Anastasia, Esmeralda, and I are sitting outside under a tree as the weather is starting to warm, something which I missed while they had me locked away. It is amazing how we take things for granted when we have them every day. I glance towards the workshop to see Eirik bent over his Harley with a wrench in his hand as he takes off his pipes.

I look back at the women to see them both grinning at me.

“What?” I ask, as I feel my cheeks warming.

“You haven’t heard a word I said, did you?” Anastasia asks.

“Of course, I did.” Actually, I have no idea what they were talking about because ever since I came to sit outside my concentration has been on what is happening inside the workshop.

“That’s good. Why don’t you enlighten us because I wasn’t saying anything, Esmeralda was,” Anastasia says with a grin

I smile. “You can’t blame me. I mean, look at him,” I whisper as I incline my head towards the workshop.

“Yes, he does have a nice ass.”

Anastasia’s quip has me snapping around only to see that Eirik is behind his bike now. She was pulling my leg because he is nowhere where she can see his ass. Esmeralda and Anastasia burst out laughing at the speed at which I turned.

“Yeah, yeah, very funny,” I mutter good naturedly.

“It’s a good thing that he’s a water bender. He can control all that drool when you look at him, so you won’t drown.” Esmeralda’s comment has both guffawing again in merriment.

“Shhh, he will hear you,” I whisper, glancing over my shoulder at the workshop, only to see Eirik grinning as he looks at us.

“Yeah, I think it’s too late for that,” Anastasia replies with a laugh. “But don’t worry, he’s coming this way to save you.”

“What?” I swear I squeak out the word. I glance back, only to see that Anastasia is telling the truth and Eirik is making his way towards us. His torso is glistening with sweat, and the tattoos that run the whole length of his body catch and hold your eye. The man is sculptured like a God, a mouth-watering morsel of a God.

“Are they giving you a hard time, baby girl?” he asks in an exaggerating stern voice which has the women laughing.

“What if we are? What will you do about it?” Anastasia asks.

“I guess I will have to complain to Dag and Ulrich so they can spank your naughty asses.”

“Oh, please do,” Anastasia replies in a pleading voice that has all of us laughing.

“You ladies are a bad influence on Siena. I think I need to take her away to keep her innocent purity intact.” Eirik suddenly swoops down and lifts me up against his chest from where I was sitting. His musky odour fills my senses. My hand lifts to his chest, feeling the muscles rippling under my fingertips.

“Sure, if that’s what you’re calling it,” Anastasia calls out as he turns his back on them and starts making his way inside.

“Are you really taking me inside?” I ask in surprise.

“Yeah, I can’t wait any longer.” His words have my mouth going dry when I think of what he could mean. Is he going to finally make love to me? After the procedure he has been having dinner with me and going to bed when I go, pulling me against his chest while I fall asleep.

We have kissed hot enough to scorch the sheets if he was a fire bender, but not hot enough to make him make love to me while I was healing. He insisted that he didn’t want to hurt me, that he wanted our first time to be special, and that if I was in pain, it wouldn’t be special at all.

I know that he wants me. Every time he has been near me, his erection is hard to miss. He even joked about it last night, saying that he would have to start wearing skirts soon to hide the tenting of his jeans. We have entered into an easy camaraderie, but I know that camaraderie will come to an end the minute I mention his past. I try to forget that he had a wife and try to think that it’s me he wants—that he didn’t love another woman.

To be fair, I don’t know why I think like that because it’s only right that he would have had other relationships because the man has lived for centuries, but what my head and my heart say is two completely different things. I know that it’s unfair to expect him to have never wanted anyone in all those years, but my heart tells me, if I’m the one then how could he even consider being with another.

I had a relationship, one that I haven’t mentioned because I realized that I never actually wanted him as a husband. But Eirik went as far as to marry the woman that he had a painting of above our bed.

“What’s wrong, I can feel you tensing?” he asks, stopping just outside our bedroom.

“Nothing, I’m fine.” I have been waiting for this moment for a long time now. I’m not going to say anything to ruin it.
