“Anytime. In fact, why don’t you let me take you out tomorrow night. On a real date.”

Bristle freezes, her eyes studying my face and I try to look as charming and harmless as possible.

The silence stretches between us and I wonder if she’s enjoying making me wait for her response. Finally, she takes pity on me and speaks.

“Alright –– one date,” she says before I can start cheering. “One date and then you stop asking me out and leave me alone. Deal?”

“Oh, baby girl. One date with me and you’ll never want me to leave you alone.”

She rolls her eyes but I can see the smile tickling the edges of her lips and the slight blush flooding her cheeks.

“Okay, tomorrow. I have off.”

“I know. I’ll pick you up at your place at six.”

“Why don’t I just meet you somewhere?” She offers instead.

“Because that’s not how dates work.”

“Sure it is.”

“Then that’s not how dates with me work.”

She bites her lip like she wants to argue but eventually sighs.

“Fine. I’m staying at the Valor Inn, out on ––“

“I know where it is,” I interrupt. I just found my new mission in life.

No way can my girl be staying at a dump like the Valor Inn. I’m about to tell her to pack her bags and inform her that she’ll be staying with me from now on, but then I remember how this is my second chance. I’m not allowed to be a bossy jerk to her.

I’ll just have figure out another way to convince her that she belongs with me.

Always.

I grab my phone and stand, watching across the desk as Bristle stands up too.

“I need to check on the floor,” she says, joining me next to the office door.

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow then. Six p.m.”

She nods, but neither one of us makes a move to leave. Instead, we both seem to be moving closer to each other.

I close the distance between us, both of our eyes locked on each other as my lips brush across hers.

The kiss is light, like a feather, but I can still feel the shock that kissing her has on my body. My cock hardens in my jeans and I want to wrap her up in my arms. I want to devour her, but instead I force myself to step back and away from her.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, baby girl.”

She stares up at me, her eyes wide and slightly dazed but she recovers quickly and nods.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I watch her leave, praying that this is the last time I have to watch her walk away from me.
